The Muse's Whisper

The house has become embers,
every other room asleep,
my desk,
a small stubborn lighthouse
in a sea of dark.
A single oil lamp pools its quiet gold,
circling my hands,
a blank page,
as white and patient
as unfallen snow.
Uncharted Territory
That first year of marriage
felt like stepping into uncharted territory—
every kiss a fresh map,
every sigh a new coastline.
We unfolded one another
in soft cotton and linen,
the headboard clacking against the wall
like a restless metronome.
